The Society of Political Methodology (SPM) is the world's premier academic organization for quantitative political science.  Originating from a small conference in 1983, the SPM has grown to address the needs of a global membership base united in developing and establishing empirical tools for the study of politics.

About Our Logo

In 2013, the Society held an open competition to design a new letterhead & logo for SPM. The executive committee of the time (Rob Franzese, Kevin Quinn, Luke Keele, & Betsy Sinclair) received many that we liked very well, but voted (using Borda-count ballot) these sextant designs created by D. Alex Hughes then a PhD candidate at the University of California, San Diego.

Our motto: ad indicia spectate, ‘look at the evidence’.
